LIFE/RUN’s Deaf and Hard of Hearing programs are designed to   to ensure that individuals with hearing loss, including those who are deaf, hard of hearing, late deafened and oral deaf, obtain the services and resources they need as they strive to improve their quality of life and function independently in the community.

1. Deaf and Hard of Hearing Access Specialist

LIFE/RUN has a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Access Specialist, who works to ensure that individuals with hearing loss, including those who are deaf, hard of hearing, late deafened and oral deaf, obtain the services and resources they need as they strive to improve their quality of life and function independently in the community.  The Access Specialist works to remove attitudinal and communication access barriers and provide advocacy, self-empowerment and trainings for and on behalf of individuals in the target population.

4. Specialized Telecommunications Assistance Program

LIFE/RUN also administers the Specialized Telecommunications Access Program (STAP), which involves identifying, certifying and assisting Consumers in applying for devices that will enhance their ability to access the telephone network.

5. ASL Interpreting Services

LIFE/RUN provides dependable, qualified Sign Language Interpreters to businesses and agencies in the community for communication with people who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.  Interpreters help to ensure that people who have hearing loss will receive equal access to the services they need.
